Not done but still fun

another daily painting....it isn't finished yet but I really had fun with this one, there is something about depicting the smooth brilliant surface of metal in the sun via the completely different texture of oil paint and paint brush! I am not a master(yet) but a Chinese- northwestern painter Z.Z. Wei is definitely capable of this technique. His composition and mood are amazing I am immediately taken to the scene, in my mind. Many of his paintings come from somewhere in my childhood riding in the back seat on one of our family vacations! check it out

Daily Paintings

Here are the first of my daily paintings, keep in mind these are done within a limited amount of time. Sometimes an hour or two, often a little more spread over a couple of days. I am excited about this new project because it gives me the opportunity to hone my skills and get comfortable with the medium in new situations. The flexibility that comes with painting this way creates a less stressful environment. Meaning I don't get so connected to the finished product, if it doesn't turn out the way I want it to, I can just scrap it and move on!

sadly not sad

Moving out:

"another chapter ends and a window is opened?"
or "a door is closed and a paged turned?"

I am currently working as an Instructional assistant at Mary Eyer a small elementary school in Salem. But not to worry painting is in no way out of my life, I just get to learn how to juggle work, art, and all that other stuff, on a day to day basis!

P.S. thanks to friends and family for lending their much more spacious cars and their time!
